The indie bookstore collaboration for the June Literary Road Trip Box is with Bookpeople of Moscow. Located in Moscow, Idaho, Bookpeople of Moscow has been operating since 1973.

The store info page shares a very heartwarming account of how the store has changed hands over the years. It explains the outpouring of customer love and support, including locals volunteering to help, when longtime owner, Robert Greene, retired, and a new group of booklovers bought the store. It shows the important place the bookstores hold in our community. Click here to read the full story.

Bookpeople of Moscow sells a robust selection of new titles and fun gift items. They host authors events, including bigger events in off-site venues. They offer a consignment program for local authors and are involved with many events in their community, especially supporting the arts.

Located on the western border of the state, Bookpeople of Moscow services local customers from both Idaho and Washington. Although I have not personally visited Bookpeople of Moscow, I did visit the town on a trip to see my friend graduate from Veterinary school in Pullman, Washington. This was about fifteen years ago and her celebration dinner was in nearby Moscow. It's a charming and beautiful town. Due to its location, Bookpeople of Moscow is near two Universities: University of Idaho and University of Washington.

Bookpeople of Moscow is also located close to the Nez Perce Reservation and on their website, they have a very interesting article regarding the indiginous cultures in their area. The article also gives some fantastic book recommendations. Click here to read the article. Many indie bookstores, have a similar approach towards stocking books and educating customers about the history and culture in their area. I appreciate the sensitivity and the weight that Bookpeople of Moscow have given to this task. Inclusivity is one of their values.

The June Box includes a beverage coaster from the store. The picture on the coaster is of a mural that is inside Bookpeople of Moscow. I love it! They also kindly sent us their store branded bookmarks to include in the box. Bookpeople of Moscow is a fabulous indie bookstore that is making the world a better place. Please support them with a visit, an order, or a social media post.
