As we approach the end of winter, our March Literary Road Trip box heads to the coldest state in the continental U.S. - North Dakota! Researching this state, I also learned that North Dakota produces the most honey in the U.S. and it's home to the "World's Largest Bison Statue."
The March featured book is Louise Erdrich's Pulitzer Prize winner novel, The Night Watchman. The story has many characters, but the title character is based on Erdrich's grandfather, who traveled to Washington to speak on behalf of his tribe. The book is historical fiction, set in the 1950's and highlights many important events taking place in North Dakota during that decade.
Ferguson Books & More is the indie bookstore collaborator for the March box. They have two locations, one in West Fargo and one in Bismarck. Their special employee designed bookmarks are included in the March box, one for each of their locations.
Warm up with a bowl of Dakota Cheese Soup from Thunderbird Ranch Gourmet Foods. Thunderbird Ranch is a non-profit located in Valley City. It was started by two chefs and operates as a workshop to employ and train those with developmental disabilities. Have some delicious soup that also helps a great cause.
I use my book light nearly every day. It's my companion for reading in bed and reading on vacation when I want to enjoy a balcony at night. The French bull clip-on book light is from a company called Withit. This is a product that I personally have enjoyed long before I started Books Inside Boxes and I'm excited to share it with you.
The last item is a sticker with spring vibes to note the transition to a new season. "The Way to My Heart is Through the Bookstore" is a sentiment that I agree with!
