May Literary Road Trip Box: Wisconsin

Karen Germain

May Literary Road Trip Box from Books Inside Boxes

The May Literary Road Trip Box is themed to the 30th state in the union, Wisconsin!

I don't know about you, but when I think about the state of Wisconsin, I think of Cheese and Beer! While researching this state, I learned that it was the home of the Hebior Mammoth, the most complete wooly mammoth ever excavated. Wisconsin is known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" and has coast line with two of the Great Lakes: Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.

And cheese, yes, Wisconsin is the state that produces the largest amount of cheese. They produce over three and half billion pounds of cheese a year. Wash all of that cheese down with local beer. Wisconsin beer fame precedes the Civil War and is home to big name companies such as Pabst and Miller.

The featured book for May is Amy E. Reichert's The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go. This multigenerational family drama follows Gina, as she navigates middle-age. Gina is struggling with the death of her husband and finds solice in running their grilled-cheese food truck buisness. However, her grief is not the only thing on her plate. Gina is also dealing with her demanding mother, and her sullen teenage daughter. When her mother suffers a stroke, long-held family secrets emerge. The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go is a great pick for any one who is feeling overwhelmed with life and needs a bit of perspective.

Lion's Mouth Bookstore is the indie partner for May. Located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Lion's Mouth Bookstore is a local gem, selling both new and used titles. Their store logo magnet has been included in the May box. A more detailed blog post about their store will be coming soon.

Located in Baraboo, Lamb & Thyme has been creating their signature herb dips for over thirty-five years. Their Lemon Cheesecake dip mix has been included in the May box. Sticking with the cheese theme and specifically to go with the featured book, enjoy the "Sweet Dreams are Grilled with Cheese" sticker. This sticker comes from a small design company called Big Moods.

Finally, show off your love of reading with a pair of bookstack stud earrings from Lilliput Little Things. This New Orleans based company handmakes their jewelry.

A limited supply of May Literary Road Trip Boxes are available for sale and June subscriptions are now open. Shipping within the United States is included in the purchase price.
