October Literary Road Trip Box: Vermont

Books Inside Boxes October 2024 Literary Road Trip Box

The October 2024 "Spooky Season" box takes us to the state famous for its maple syrup, and home of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. It is known for it's gorgeous fall foliage, which should be hitting its peak right around now...the fourteenth state in the union: Vermont!

The October featured book is Riley Sager's mystery novel, Home Before Dark. Following the death of her parents, Maggie Holt inherits Baneberry Hall, a sprawling mansion in the Vermont woods. Baneberry Hall was abanonded by Maggie's parents decades earlier due to reported hauntings, which Maggie's father documented in a bestselling book. Maggie intends on selling the house, but encounters locals who are not happy with how Maggie's father portrayed their town. Maggie also starts to notice unexplained occurences at Baneberry Hall that make her wonder, if her parents were telling the truth. Creepy and atmospheric, this is the perfect October book.

The Vermont Book Shop is our October indie bookstore partner. The Vermont Book Shop is located in Middlebury and has been continuously operating since 1949. Their Book Nerd License plate sticker has been included in the October Box. I will share a more extensive post about this fabulous indie bookstore in an upcoming post.

Taste the state with Vermont Maple Brittle from Sweet on Vermont Artisan Confections. Sweet on Vermont Artisan Confections has been making small batch candy since 1996. They have gained national attention for their various confections, including mentions on National Public Radio and in the New York Times.

Keeping with the maple theme, a tube of Vermont Maple Lip Balm from Farmer's Body. Farmer's Body is a company from Cobb Hill, a co-living ecovillage in Hartland, Vermont. This ecovillage allows a communal lifestyle for people who are both interested in the farming and sustainable living, and those who want to support it, but might not want to actively work the land. I found their concept to be very interesting.  Click here to check out their website.

Celebrate Halloween with a book stack wood decoration from Ruaille Buaille Co.  Ruaille Buaille (pronounced rool-ya bool-ya) is a small company specializing in handcrafted decor. They are located in Tacoma, Washington. Their company name is Irish and means "Cheerful Mayhem." I love this and thought it was also appropriate for the Halloween season.

All boxes are limited edition and the October 2024 box sold-out during the subscription phase. This is the first time that this has happened and was very exciting. I actually had several subscribers come aboard after the sell-out and they are being held to start their subscriptions in November. I am nearly sold-out of November boxes too!

As this happens, I will increase my amount of available boxes each month, but as they need to be planned a few months in advance, sell-outs are always possible. If you want to lock in your subscription, which reserves your box and guarantees the lowest price, please click here. You can also visit my store to see all of the boxes that are available to ship right now, including previous road trip boxes.
