Our April 2025 Literary Road Trip box takes us to the state that's "First in Flight" and the home of the invention of Pepsi. Famous authors from this state include Thomas Wolfe and Sarah Addison Allen. For April, we head to the "Tar Heel State"- North Carolina!
The April featured book is Megan Miranda's The Last to Vanish. This thriller is set in the fictional North Carolina mountain town of Cutter's Pass, where an unusually high amount of people have gone missing. Abby runs a resort and when a guest at her hotel goes missing, she becomes involved in the investigations. This twisty thriller set near the Appalachian Trail will keep you guessing until the very end.
Located in Asheville, Malaprop's Bookstore and Cafe is our indie bookstore partner. Malaprop's opened in 1982 and we included their mermaid logo sticker in this month's box. The mermaid sticker was designed by artist Janet K. Lee, who illustrated the Marvel Comics adaptations of Jane Austen's Emma and Northanger Abbey.
Taste a sweet North Carolina treat with a 7oz box of Butterfield's Peach Buds. This peachy hard candy is absolutely addictive! Butterfield's is located in Nashville, North Carolina and peach buds have been a traditional treat for over a hundred years.
A pair of heart-shaped book earrings from Jill's Jewels. Jill's Jewels is a small business from Milford, Michigan that opened in 2012. All of the jewelry is handmade from up-cycled goods.
April has a very special holiday. The last Saturday of the month is "Independent Bookstore Day." This is an important day to show support by shopping at your favorite indie bookstores. To honor this month, we've included an oversized, bumper-sticker style sticker from And Here We Are. And Here We Are is a design company from Columbus, Ohio. This woman owned business opened in 2012.
